Hi all,
For those of you that know me youll know that when I launched the initial plug-in concept, I had a solid plan to market it, but once I released it my original plan flew out of the window. As with most projects that have been developed over the years, the simplicity and flexibility of the plugin has been its main strength.
Now it’s time for a little reflection and a few tweaks. I’d like to share with you the way the plug-in is now and encourage you to share your feedback. Let me know of your ideas to bring the new, and very sexy looking plug-in into the world of Ableton.
Changes and Features
NEW
SimpleTON – Dual Filter/Distortion now has 4 main features:
1. SimpleTON – Dual Low Pass Filter
2. SimpleTON – Dual High Pass Filter
3. SimpleTON – Drive
4. SimpleTON – Distortion
So a dual filter with variable threshold and slope and adjustable level is now available and you have the option to adjust for low pass filter and high pass filter, as well as a drive and a distortion (if you want to give them crazy tones).
SimpleTON – Dual Filter:
Select the filter type (low pass, high pass, band or split), and assign it to any channel. The filter is designed to work with both stereo and mono signals, but for best effect, use the channel that will be used with your master channel.
SimpleTON – Low Pass Filter:
If you want your base tone to remain while the filter is active, you will need to add a low pass filter and set it up before activating the Dual filter/Distortion. Set the low pass to ensure the highest vocal is kept.
SimpleTON – High Pass Filter:
If you want your base tone to be filtered away while the filter is active, you will need to add a high pass filter and set it up before activating the Dual filter/Distortion. Set the high pass to ensure the lowest frequency is filtered away.
SimpleTON – Drive:
Select the amount of distortion and the ratio to be used. You can adjust the threshold and slope of the filter, and can set a minimum distortion for the 1:1 ratio. You can use this to create some crazy distortion effects when the audio is heavily compressed.

A simple Multiband EQ and very powerful High Pass filter. It features High Pass Filter to remove the lows (Drums, Bass, etc), Low Pass Filter to remove highs (Vocals), adjustable high and low cut (from 90Hz to 4000Hz), adjustable band ratio, and a 2 band EQ with selectable: High Pass (to remove the bass), Low Pass (to remove the highs)

Should you buy it?
Any band ratio plugins will work with this plugin, however it may not be the best choice for bands with 100s of tracks. Band ratio plugins are much better suited for large numbers of instruments and tracks.

Band ratio: This plugin will work perfectly with filter plugins that have a fixed band ratio. Examples of such plugins are SPL’s Band Expand, a plug in created by Scott Paterson and Kinefinity.

SimpleTON Filter can be adjusted easily to provide a great result with any band ratio plugin.

Limitations:
This plugin only works with a high pass filter as a preamp
Takes a bit of time to calculate the size of the bands
Please note that even though the calculation was made using a Win-7 PC, the Plugin will only run on Windows XP and later

Some band ratio plugins (Band expand, Band Tape Duplicator etc) will create filters that are wider than possible if the filter has a band ratio of 16:1. SimpleTON Filter will allow you to adjust the band ratio to 16:1, 24:1 or 32:1. Simply click the Display or Edit button to increase or decrease the band ratio and the display will update.

simpleTON 2.0:

The filter is still a high-pass and a low-pass with continuous control
All controls can be adjusted on a curve (when using the arbitrary control).
Modes filters

Filter – simpleTON filter (semi-stereo)
Distortion – simpleTON distortion (semi-stereo)

No more muting the filter when changing mode – that’s a joke,
simpleTON is still a filter and a distortion!!

Stick mode – play your sounds in real-time

Mix – control the interaction of the filters (filter, distortion, altarg)

The former “pencil” mode is now better named “stick mode”

A utility plugin, without being obtrusive to the experience

Added a mode showing you what’s going on with your sound when in “stick mode”

This mode is hidden in the presets menu

Added many new presets.

Some more tweaks, such as:

Added a notch filter effect (like a vocal comp) with an “arg” control

The “pencil” mode (stick mode) can now be started again –
can be undone by pressing u

I use both of these apps and have really found that they compliment each other well.
I use a ART cable to set the inputs on the judeNV as I find it easier with my settings on that window.
