AutoCAD History

AutoCAD is the oldest major commercially available CAD application. It was initially developed for the DOS operating system in 1982 as a desktop graphics application for graphic arts professionals. CAD programs in the 1980s were a few of the first to support the use of graphics tablets to input and control drafting commands. AutoCAD’s first version added the ability to control a graphics tablet, and to display graphics in the graphic plane. Another first was the ability to cut, copy, paste, and move shapes. Users could then lay out a two-dimensional drawing on paper using the plotting plane. The first AutoCAD was not initially capable of creating three-dimensional (3D) drawings. That would take years to develop.

The company behind Chewco, a Las Vegas gaming company that was planning to build a $1 billion casino in southeastern Florida, has been denied a state permit.

Chase Casinos was one of three companies rejected last week from a state gaming license in what’s becoming known as a deal-killing list of decisions.

The approval process for the project was halted after the third company — Chewco — didn’t get the nod.

“The Department of Business and Professional Regulation has denied Chewco Florida’s application for a video gaming permit,” a spokeswoman said Friday.

“Chewco Florida will be taking immediate steps to correct the issues and we intend to pursue all remedies to have the Department reconsider its decision.”

The Seminole tribe denies any wrongdoing in the deal that resulted in the big fine.

“After the Department of Business and Professional Regulation reviewed the Chewco application, we determined the company had not met some of the requirements and did not deserve the approval,” tribal attorney John R. Brown said.

“We are confident that when the Department of Business and Professional Regulation re-evaluates the Chewco application and its requirements, they will grant the permit.”

The department’s spokeswoman wasn’t able to provide details about the fine against Sinara of South Florida.
