Everything is nice and quiet at the YMCA here in St. Petersburg – the morning is filled with counting bodies, lifting weights, stretching, and attending to daily physical therapy appointments. This is the weekly time frame for me to post a review of the weekend.

The one exception to this “quiet” is “Tweet”!

This is a 10-week old poodle puppy who was just brought to the shelter with a broken leg. A vet checked him out and it turns out that he is not in great shape and he has only a 2% chance of survival. I am told that he is a “special needs” puppy, very nervous and scared. At least he has a wonderful home waiting for him and it’s really nice to watch him interact with other dogs. He just wants love and attention and will settle down as soon as he gets that.

His new family will be spending quite a bit of time looking at his medical records. Poor baby.

Last week’s workout was my first “T” time workout of 2010. I was really surprised to feel more tired at the end than I did at the beginning. I have been getting more and more “rusty” and I am sure I am getting older by the minute. The workout of this week was to hold the side plank at a 30-degree angle for 30 seconds. This meant that I had to hold my body steady without losing the balance. This was not an easy task!

I did not do my best on the “Mountain Climbers.” I am having a lot of trouble with the heel to toe action and it is taking a lot of concentration to keep my form straight. The last set was the best I have ever done. I even passed my good friend and trainer, Steph, and beat her. She has been working hard too and she is doing better every week.
