One of two were charged with killing a Palestinian father and daughter after bombing a mosque in the West Bank.

Two Israelis were charged on Friday with the killing of a Palestinian man and his daughter in a car-ramming attack in the West Bank earlier this week.

The suspects, both 18-year-old Israeli-Jewish men, were charged with murder at a closed court session in the city of Ramat Gan, the Shin Bet security agency said.

They were also charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder of the father and daughter, who were both seriously injured in the attack.

The daughter is in a coma in hospital, while the father is in a stable condition.

Shin Bet said the pair were suspected of being part of a cell of right-wing extremist Jews who were involved in “gatherings for terrorist activities” in the past.

According to the agency, one of the suspects was a member of a Jewish terrorist cell named “Adi the Bulldozer”, while the other had been affiliated with the “Bakar” organisation.

The two were arrested in separate raids overnight on Thursday, and the prime minister’s office said that while the other man had been released on bail, the first had been remanded to custody for a further 48 hours for questioning.

Both suspects’ families were interrogated, and the court ruled that the men were not likely to harm any more victims, and so they would be released on bail, according to the Shin Bet.

The two were arrested after “an extensive and accurate investigation by the Shin Bet [intelligence agency] and the Israel Police that involved the testimony of a number of witnesses”, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

“During the arrest, the two claimed that they acted on their own initiative in the attack. The interrogations of the two will continue. We are determined to ensure their capture and bring to justice those who seek to harm our citizens.”
