Part II (Chapters 8 to 12) concerns the Latin Synoptic gospels and the relationship between John’s Gospel and these. He seeks to ascertain, after the Renaissance, the development of the early Latin Gospel tradition and the influence of this on Latin scholarship and biblical interpretation, not least by the Franciscan succession of St. Bonaventure and St. Thomas Aquinas.
