One of the best PlayStation games of 2017, DARK SOULS 3: The Firefly Diary may be the most unsettling game you’ll ever play. It doesn’t just disturb your mind, it makes you feel like the darkness is inside your own soul. This 8th entry in the franchise is a must-own if you’re into horror games, even if you’re a dark Souls fan.

The story starts with protagonist Kain High-Schooler, meeting his older sister Kyrene. They were actually separated over a year ago in a tragic accident. Kyrene has been stuck on the last place in the world they were together, the Night Haunt. Now she is getting to know Kain’s best friend Ancel through the smartphone app provided by the main antagonist Lilith. As they live their days, they eventually end up meeting the angel Serah, who has come to the Night Haunt, because of the help of Kain and Ancel.

What follows is a beautiful journey filled with the most heart-breaking story of Kain’s life and the events surrounding his sister, who has died. At the end of the game, you discover that the Night Haunt doesn’t just exist in the universe, but in the soul of your character, as well. In a way, it’s your journey to the Dark World, the concept of which is explored in this game.

The gameplay isn’t radically different from the previous Dark Souls titles, in fact, it’s pretty much the same. Your character can be made to transform with the use of a number of consumables and weapons, with either light, dark, or a combination of the two. The level design and graphics are also the best of the series. The camera is well-managed and the game runs smoothly on a PS4. All in all, you should play this game if you are looking for the best possible experience in an action-RPG.

The Gods had granted the Lands of Gold the prosperity they desired, and given the Lands of Silver to the Tarnished. The time came when the hearts of those of the Lands of Gold yearned for the Lands of Silver, and this was an era that the Gods prophesied would be the time for the return of the Tarnished.

The Gods of the Planes had prepared much for the time when the Tarnished would return. They believed the time had come to bless the Tarnished and the Lands Between with the gift of horses.

Among the Lands Between, the Master Magnefleur of Gold’s might had risen and ruled. Even now, the Tarnished who wandered among the Lands of Silver were guided by the gods. Magnefleur’s Empire laid the foundations of the Empires of Gold and Silver, and he was blessed by the Gods of the Planes.

The battle against the return of the Tarnished was a battle between the Gods. The Gods of the Planes established a special division of soldiers called the Sovereignty of the Planner.
