Usage

With JEExplorer you can manage files and directories on a Linux/UNIX or Windows server, which runs as a standalone server (you can take a look at the JEExplorer server configuration under the doc folder).

So first you create a config.xml file, which tells the server where to look for the server files.

1. Create the config.xml file

Open the conf folder (conf in this example).

Open the newfile.xml file.

I created this function:

When I call it like this:

It returns:
varchar

But if I try to pass a number it doesn’t return anything, maybe like this:
SELECT FUNC_GetColumnType( ‘3’) AS [DataType]

It returns :
3;

What can I do to make it work for a string or a number?

A:

The reason why you cannot return a number in your function is that the input parameter is @value and not @value.
The AS here is for a different issue that isn’t relevant in this case. That is, it’s telling the parser that the input value is really of that type and not any other type. A more common use of AS would be for variables/parameters to ‘tell’ the parser what type of value they are.
So your return statement needs to be:
SELECT ‘S’+@result
RETURN @result
