Deleting and renaming all.md files in all sub-directories except on a certain path

I’m looking for a way to delete all.md files in all sub-directories of a directory except those in a path, for example:
./sub1/subdir1/file.md
./sub2/subdir2/file.md

The files to delete:
file1.md
file2.md

I have over 10000 sub-directories and 60K files in total. The only solution I have found that would work would be to go into the main directory, then into each sub-directory, and then into each file. That would be extremely tedious.

The easiest way would be to use a single folder for your files, and have that folder have all files of that type (just add *.md to your find’s -iname parameter). You could then delete the folder, and all files in it.
Eg.
$ mkdir -p test/
$ touch test/file1.md
$ touch test/file2.md
$ cd test/file1.md
$ echo ‘hello!’ > test/file1.txt
$ rm -r test/

Note that it will not affect files that you don’t have permission to modify, and it does not delete hidden files (folders with a. at the start).
If you have a single folder with all files of that type, you’re done. If not, you can use the find-delete-backup command.

$ cd test/
$ find. -type f -iname ‘*.md’ -exec
