I used it for an hour today, and it proved to be very good, letting me fine-tune TDR settings without any undue risks. Another little crash earlier this week proved a good reason to test the application: within a few seconds after it took control of the computer, it correctly diagnosed the problem, restarted the GPU driver, and redirected the GPU when it started taking requests again.
It’s not a perfect application, however. There’s a little slider to control how aggressively it tampers with the system. None of the options serves the purpose of actually enabling error checks, for example, but simply reducing the number of entries to the log.
So, though not super-user friendly in its UI, TDR Manipulator is a good choice for troubleshooting and analyzing your GPU’s performance. The trade-off is that you have to tolerate the potential crashes that result from changing the TDR settings.

I do use CPU-Z if I want to get a complete picture of my system’s configuration (speed, utilization, etc.), but on my desktop I use a simple tool called iSpy which lets you do much the same thing and it’s much easier to use.

Now it’s my turn to wander into the dark. Tonight I’m going to try the new Parallels 4 to see how it performs, it’s out today.

It looks like there are various problems with the way we are setting the TDR limit.
Currently TDR limit is set at 200 and it is not changing when GPU time goes over 200. It is set at 0.

Allow TDR to override limit – TdrLimitMaxSubtract
default value 1 = 2

Also the TDR limit should appear at the bottom so that you don’t have to scroll to find it.

default value 5 = 50
