Before Photoshop Elements

There was a time before Photoshop when Photoshop was not available in English!

It is a bit hard to believe now, but when Adobe Photoshop CS1 was released in 1996, it was only available in English. In fact, the first version of Photoshop (known as Press\Photo) was not even released in English!

So when they released Photoshop in February 1996, and without any explanation why and how Photoshop became available in several languages after the “PressPhoto” release, the French press cried foul. The French press at that time published an opinion piece in which they urged the management of Adobe not to release Photoshop in English.

However, this French campaign fell on deaf ears and, as it often happens, a new product was developed to replace the previous one. This new product was called Photoshop CS (Commercial Software) and it was renamed Photoshop Elements in 2001.

The French version was the very first one (Espagne, Belgique, Royaume-Uni et Suède), while the English version was released some months later.

Photoshop Elements (2003)

Adobe Photoshop Elements provides a very good level of quality. The graphic interface is very simple. The interface does not hide anything and is very clear. The toolbox is well organized, while the menu is tidy and clean.

The editing tools are all easily accessible and very intuitive. There is not a large amount of controls to navigate. The brushes are a bit limited in number, but they are sufficient.

Image adjustments are limited to levels, curves and color. The editing features (background eraser, crop and so on) are available, but limited. The introduction of Smart Objects and the new free-form feature is very practical.

The features are quite powerful, but not the most advanced. For those who understand Photoshop or who have used Photoshop professionally, the experience is good, but for people with little or no experience, this tool is not the best option.

In August 2008, Adobe introduced a new version of Photoshop Elements.

While this is not a major change, it is a bit surprising that the user interface is not clean and tidy (as it is with the Elements version). Most of the menus are cluttered, and some of the elements are not well organized.

I want to check if a user input value exists in one array and not the other. My two arrays are continents and countries. I would like to check if a user inputted value is present in either the continents or countries. If not present in either array, then I would like for it to display an error msg.

You can’t use!continent.contains(country) because country is a String so it’s not a boolean. If you want to make a check if both are not empty or the other is not empty and only if they have nothing in common, you can do it like this:
