Win9x PassView can be used to recover lost or forgotten passwords in Windows Millenium, 98 or 95. Although it runs on newer Windows editions, it cannot reveal the keys.
This is a free and simple software application capable of showing four types of passwords: the username and key of the current logged on user, along with cached passwords, network shares keys (applies only for share-level access control), and screensaver passwords.
The interface consists of a single window that contains three buttons for showing the Windows passwords, copying information to the Clipboard, and exiting the tool. It instantly identifies and displays the keys once the command is triggered, and you can view the current logged user and password, along with cached passwords (resource type and name, and password).
Some cached passwords may appear in encrypted form. You can make a text selection to copy, or click the button to copy everything to the Clipboard.
Installation is not required. You can save Win9x PassView’s executable file in any location on the disk or on a USB flash drive, and simply double-click it to launch the tool. It doesn’t need any DLLs and doesn’t change Windows registry settings.

The main window contains five tabs: Info, Shared Keys, Cached Passwords, Logon, and PassView. Info shows information about each of the password types; Shared Keys show the names of any network shares accessed using the current logged on username and password; Cached Passwords shows the current username and cached password; Logon shows the current logged on username and password; PassView displays the current username and password.
With the current username and password selected in the Logon tab, a grid shows the four password types in a checkable format, and you can clear, delete, and change the current password.
To view network shares, the tool displays a list of shares accessed by the current logged on user, along with the shares’ keys. To view a share password, simply click the Share key in the list. When a password is shown, you can type a new password, and then click the Change button to start the password change.
If you want to copy a network share password to the Clipboard, just click the button. If you need the network share password in plain text, use the File menu and select “Save Share Password to File”. A text file is created with the plain text password and the share’s name and keys, along with any encryption information. If you are shown a network share password in encrypted form, you can click the button to immediately encrypt the information, and then save the file.
Once all passwords have been viewed and tested, you can exit Win9x PassView Cracked Accounts.
The Help window opens with options for each tool. You can view the menu options and change the display options under the Options menu. The Sample Usage section shows how to use each option, and the Full Screen section shows how to launch the tool in full screen mode.
To display the tool’s main window, press F5; to exit the program, press Esc.

Windows 10 comes with a new file compression/decompression tool, called the WinRAR Archiver. Microsoft’s goal is to turn Windows 10 into a platform that is more secure than Windows 9x. Although it is not yet a fully fledged cryptographic toolbox, the WinRAR Archiver is promising a whole new experience.

The primary purpose of WinRAR Archiver is to compress/decompress ZIP and RAR archives. To start, you can drag files or folders (JPG, TIFF, MP3, etc) to the Windows Explorer window, select any of the items, and “Archive” it. Unlike the conventional Windows archive tool, WinRAR Archiver supports the following archive compression types:

Zip, including zip, cab, css, crc, rar, rarry, exe and zipx

RAR, including rar, zip, cab, css, crc, rar, rarry, exe, zipx

These archiver types come with several options to pick. You can set the archive compression type in the “Compression” window and specify the file/folder extensions to use, file compression level, and more.
