Gryptonite’s password generator uses a unique technique for generating an extremely strong, random password. It can also generate strong passwords of your choice. The algorithm used is a factorized one.
The device draws an initial random integer between 1 and 1000. This integer is used as a basis for factorizing the prime number by dividing it by some prime number (which is a parameter) until the correct decimal value is obtained. This process guarantees an extremely strong password – depending on the prime number selected – at a price of minimal computing time. The number of factors is also a parameter, which can be set by the user.

With Gryptonite, your sensitive data is safely stored on the user’s hard disk, providing the highest level of security. It does this by encrypting it using a CCM (CMAC) scheme, which requires the user to enter a master password to decrypt the data.
The master password is created by combining two factors: a strong password and a random number between 1 and 1000. This number is used to create a hash code, which is used to obfuscate the algorithm of the password. A 32 character long hash code is created from the master password.
To encrypt the files, a strong encryption method named AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is used, which has a block size of 128 bits. It can use any cipher mode of operation.
Because it is based on CCM, Gryptonite can be configured to store a small number of files by default. If more files need to be stored, one can easily change this at any time. Gryptonite allows one to select the type of encryption used: one-time password (OTP), stored password, and a secret key.
Due to its independence from the operating system, Gryptonite supports encryption of files in Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android.
