<\/p>\nWith Chairman Matthew Pittinsky pursuing a Ph.D. in training at Columbia University and living part time in New York, 2004 started with cofounder, President, and CEO Michael Chasen answerable for managing Blackboard\u2019s day-to-day operations. In March, the corporate reported that income in 2003 totaled $92.5 million and the company\u2019s annual loss shrank to $1.4 million from $41.7 million for 2002. There was great speculation on Wall Road, and some appreciable doubt, about Blackboard\u2019s March 5, 2004, announcement to go public. Blackboard, some analysts mentioned, had too many similarities to corporations that folded within the NASDAQ crash of March 2000: It grew very fast, was enterprise financed, built on acquisitions, and having only proven a revenue within the final two quarters of 2003, had a file of losing cash.<\/p>\n

In June 1999, the corporate capped two years of explosive development with a $12.2 million second round of enterprise financing. Since its founding, Blackboard\u2019s annual revenues had increased 400 percent, the number of workers expanded from four to 90, and the client base grew from eight to 280 faculties. In October 1999, the corporate partnered with Microsoft in a two-year settlement to make sure compatibility between Microsoft Windows NT and Blackboard\u2019s CourseInfo server software product line. Different login blackboard<\/a> schooling partners at the time included Archipelago, GEO Interactive, Houghton Mifflin, KPMG LLP, NextEd, Norton Publishing, PeopleSoft, Solar Microsystems, Sylvan Studying Systems, and The TLT Group.
