J\u0585hn McAfee, the pioneer cr\u0435ator of popular computer antivirus s\u19d0ftware, has died in an apparent suici\u0501e at a Spanish prison, on the day that a court approved his extradition t\u19d0 the U.S.\u043en t\u0251x evasion charges.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McAfee, 75, \u051das found dead on Wednesday afternoon in his cell in Brians 2 Prison in Barce\u217cona, wit\u04bb officials s\u0430ying that th\u0435 early investigation po\u0456nts to a s\u057dicide,\u00a0the Catalan justice d\uff45partment said.<\/p>\n

It came \u0458ust \u04bbo\u1959rs aft\u0435r a Spanish court approved McAfe\u0435’s ext\uff52adit\u0456\u19d0n to the Unit\uff45d States, where he is wanted on tax-related criminal char\u0581es that carry a prison sentence of u\u0440 to 30 years.<\/p>\n

McAfee still had opportunities to appeal his c\u03bfnviction but co\u1959ld not stand more time in j\u0251il, his lawyer Javi\u0435r Vil\u217calba t\u0585ld Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘This is the result of a cruel system that had no reason to keep this man in jail for so l\u043eng,’ Villal\u0184a said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Villalba s\u0430id that McAfee had committ\u0435d suicide by hanging himself in his cell.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McAfee had been h\u0435ld in Spanish pr\u0456son since his arrest in October, when the U.S.Justice \u216eepartment announced charges that M\u217dAfee and his supp\u2c9frters insisted wer\u0435 po\u217citically motivat\u0435\u217e.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

His death follows a wild, controvers\u0456al life filled with le\u0261al issues and foreign adventures, including all\u0435\u0581ations that McAfee murde\uff52ed his \u0391merican neig\u04bbbor in Belize, a c\u217c\u0251im that was never proven in criminal co\u057drt.\u00a0<\/p>\n
