A tear rolled down Prince Charles’ cheek during his father Prince Philip’s funeral this afternoon as he followed the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin while accompanied by his sons Princes William and Harry.<\/p>\n

The Prince of Wales, 72, somberly walked in procession from Windsor Castle at 2.45pm with senior members of the royal family behind Philip’s custom-built Land Rover Defender hearse, which was driven into the castle’s quadrangle before it carried his coffin through the grounds to St George’s Chapel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charles led his siblings Princes Edward and Andrew and Princess Anne, his sons the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex, bronze country paintings how much<\/a> and Peter Philips,\u00a0Vice Admiral Tim Lawrence and the Earl of Snowdon.Behind them were members of Philip’s household, and in front of the coffin were the Services chiefs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In St George’s Chapel, the prince had tears in his eyes as he put on a black face mask before taking a seat next to his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. They were sat directly opposite Charles’ mother the grief-stricken Queen, who was forced to mourn alone as she bid farewell to her ‘strength and stay’.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dressed in a black morning suit, Charles wore medals including: a garter star, an Order of Merit, the Queen’s Service Order (New Zealand), Coronation Medal, Silver Jubilee Medal, Golden Jubilee Medal, Diamond Jubilee Medal, Naval Long Service Good Conduct (LSGC), Canadian Forces Decoration, The New Zealand Commemorative Medal, and the New Zealand Armed Forces Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At 3pm, mourners across the nation including hundreds gathered outside Windsor Castle holding flags and flowers observed a minute’s silence in honour of the\u00a0Duke of Edinburgh, the nation’s longest serving consort who died ‘peacefully’ at Windsor Castle last Friday aged 99.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the ceremony, in which 30 mourners wore masks and socially distanced due to Covid-19 restrictions, Charles and Camilla accompanied the 94-year-old monarch, who led the royal family from the chapel and spoke briefly with the Dean of Windsor before being driven away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other members of the royal family walked away from the chapel in small groups, chatting as they walked through the sunlit grounds.Among them were the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex, who have not seen each other since Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell Oprah interview.<\/p>\n

Earlier today, Charles, Duke of Cornwall, was driven in a Tesla car to his mother’s home in Berkshire while wearing a black face mask. His wife Camilla, 73, arrived separately as William and his wife Kate Middleton left Kensington Palace for the funeral of the ‘grandfather of the nation’.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
