There are also spell-binding coastal views, because the property sits right next to the glittering Adriatic Sea on Lopud island, just seven miles from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techandtrends.com\/?s=Dubrovnik\">Dubrovnik<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>         Lopud 1483, pictured, is a former\u00a015th-century monastery in Croatia that has been stunningly transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel<\/p>\n<p>         The property is located\u00a0right next to the glittering Adriatic Sea on Lopud island, just seven miles from Dubrovnik<\/p>\n<p>         The property used to be a home for Franciscan monks called\u00a0Our Lady of the Cave<\/p>\n<p>The hotel&#8217;s origins can be traced to the year 1483.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Back then it was a monastery for Franciscan monks called Our Lady of the Cave.<\/p>\n<p>Monks lived at the monastery until 1822,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caravax.com\/tranh-go-dong-que-dep-nhat-tranh-go-phong-canh\/\">Tranh g\u1ed7 treo ph\u00f2ng kh\u00e1ch<\/a> when it was seemingly abandoned, having fallen into disrepair and become uninhabitable.<\/p>\n<p>   RELATED ARTICLES                        Share this article Share 849 shares   In 1992, the ruins of the complex were spotted by London-based art collector Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza, while on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/search?keywords=boat%20trip\">boat trip<\/a> to Lopud with a local friar.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>She had been visiting Croatia\u00a0to help to rescue artworks damaged in the war after the break-up of the Balkans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She couldn&#8217;t believe &#8216;such an architectural marvel&#8217; had been neglected for so long and soon after paid a second visit to the monastery with world-renowned architect Frank Gehry.<\/p>\n<p>         Inside the hotel&#8217;s recreation of an ancient pharmacy,\u00a0which includes original 15th and  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caravax.com\/tranh-go-dong-que-dep-nhat-tranh-go-phong-canh\/\">Tranh g\u1ed7 treo ph\u00f2ng kh\u00e1ch<\/a> 16th-century manuscripts and mortars<\/p>\n<p>         The Old Kitchen, pictured,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caravax.com\/tranh-go-dong-que-dep-nhat-tranh-go-phong-canh\/\">C\u00e1ch trang tr\u00ed tranh g\u1ed7 ph\u00f2ng kh\u00e1ch.
