Best way to persist entities in a JSF application?<\/p>\n
I have an application that’s using JSF and JPA and I’m having a hard time deciding what’s the best way to persist data.\nIf I had a simple object that had a plain ‘ole String property called ‘name’ and was usually accessed via the data-binding in the view it’d be easy: I’d just query the database for entities matching the conditions I want and load them into a List of that type of object. When I needed to update the object, I’d just change the String ‘name’.\nBut the problem is that I have some more complicated objects that contain collections. And I want to avoid situations where I do one query that returns 10,000 objects and then iterate through those objects, add my own collections etc. This is way too slow and it’d be much more efficient to just query for the entities and have the Hibernate create them (that’s it’s job).\nI’m thinking of just persisting objects as Json, which I believe is the best way to persist the entities, and then manually parse the json into an object. But it also means I’d have to do all the ugly string-manipulation business that I’d normally do in the backing bean (add\/delete\/update collections etc).\nSo I’m looking for suggestions from other people that have done this a lot before. My criteria is that it should not take 10 seconds to load an object (I’m talking hundreds of entities here).\nThanks!<\/p>\n

I recommend using JSON as you can store the objects directly, instead of having to map them to POJOs.\nSpring will serialize the pojos and put the result in the session. At that point you can even directly put it in the request attributes.\nBy<\/p>\n
