You can use Photoshop for both color and black-and-white work. You get to the color features by either starting with a color photo or working with colors in the photo editor from Photoshop’s Layers panel. You can place a color swatch on a selected layer to color that area.<\/p>\n
If you have only a black-and-white photo, then place a black-and-white swatch on the selected layer. The swatch will fill the layer and color any area outside the swatch. ## Getting a Grip on the Interface<\/p>\n

The left side of the toolbar is a row of tools called the _paint bucket_ in which you use to paint your images. The panel on the right is a set of tools that make it easier to choose, drag, and copy elements.
