Alternatively, you can spread the window out into 3 or 4 monitor spaces.<\/p>\n The Photoshop Interface<\/p>\n The layer-based editing system and the familiar interface are what make Photoshop the most popular image editing tool. Admittedly, it can be tough to learn, but the interface helps with this.<\/p>\n Making the top layer<\/p>\n To start, click on the small circle at the top-right corner. This will make the current layer the “active” layer.<\/p>\n To access the entire collection of layers, click on the rectangle that looks like a box. You will now see the layers appear. This collection of layers is the Layers palette, as shown in the figure below.<\/p>\n The layers palette is the place you go to access all of Photoshop’s tools, including moving the layers and making selections. You will have to learn how to use these tools, but they can certainly save you a lot of time in complicated projects.<\/p>\n Moving the layers<\/p>\n You can move layers easily by clicking on them with the left mouse. The drag handles on a layer appear when you move them.<\/p>\n You can drag a layer off of the picture to make a new layer. This makes it easy to copy and paste photos, as you will see in another tutorial.<\/p>\n You can also drag a layer up above the layers to temporarily hide it from view, and then drag it back into the layers palette to restore it.<\/p>\n As shown in the figure below, a darkened layer can be dragged upward to hide it from view.
