Why RAW?<\/p>\n One of the most important questions to ask when it comes to editing images in Photoshop is: why edit RAW images?<\/p>\n This is really an important question because the more sensitive your sensor is to light and the more precise your lenses are, the better the quality of the image that you get. In other words, less noise and better colors. The problem is that the RAW files are usually huge.<\/p>\n For instance, a RAW file from a DSC-RX camera is over 8 GiB. That\u2019s too big for most of the standard file size formats that we use for RAW editing.<\/p>\n Images can become too big because of the huge amount of color data they contain. A DSC-RX RAW file has around 44 million pixels. A 1\/250 sec image which has 10 stops of dynamic range, has a million colors. It\u2019s not exaggerating to say that the colors in a RAW file from a professional camera are too detailed for most people to look at.<\/p>\n Furthermore, the RAW file format is one of the only file formats that contains color data. So you can actually change the color of an image to match a specific color that you want it to have, such as blue skies.<\/p>\n Furthermore, other problems can occur with RAW files.
