Under JobSeeker’s so-called mutual obligation requirements, anyone who receives the government payment – which starts at $642.70 a fortnight – is expected to search for jobs for 15 to 29 hours per week.<\/p>\n

They must apply for a set number of positions each month – but he managed to do most of them in one day in a ‘speed run’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mumfighter begins the video by narrating to the camera, bucksays<\/A> ‘Centrelink job application speed run, 15 jobs and I’m going for a time of about eight minutes.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Let’s go,’ Mumfighter said.<\/p>\n

Viewers are then shown the musician’s computer screen with multiple tabs open on his internet browser.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He then rapidly moves through each tab clicking the ‘apply’ button on various event and marketing manager positions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The video shows Mumfighter filling out his official Centrelink Jobactive page with the relevant information on the jobs he had just applied for.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0former pro rollerblader and rollerblade instructor said he made the video for fun as he likes to\u00a0‘pretend to do things faster than the average human’ and normally takes the task much more seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘In reality applying for jobs normally takes me anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on if I need to rewrite my resume slightly and how much I’m being hindered by my ADHD,’ Mumfighter told Daily Mail Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Mumfighter appeared<\/a> to apply for 15 jobs in the video, he later said that he actually only applied for one during that time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, he labelled Centrelink’s mutual obligation requirements ‘arbitrary’ and believes individuals would have a higher success rate with a lower minimum requirement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘If I had to do only five then the quality could be better – employers definitely get spammed with too many applications for nearly every role so this would be good for both parties involved.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mumfighter lost his job at the start of the Covid pandemic and has had only two interviews since starting JobSeeker.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0hyperpop and punk musician applied for the NIES – a government small business program for people interested in self-employment – two months ago but has had no response.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I’ve been trying to be\u00a0accepted into the government (NIES) small business program but it’s been two months since I started that,’ he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
