\nThe essential oils of the barks and leaves of Argyreia difformis, Ficus hippopotami and their major constituents were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Twenty-four compounds were identified in the bark and leaves of Argyreia difformis, comprising 99.9% of the oil. The major constituents were eugenol (43.4%), methyleugenol (12.3%), 3-methoxycinnamaldehyde (14.2%) and 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol (12.7%). The antifungal activity of the oils and of the main constituents were also tested against five yeast species. 3-Methoxycinnamaldehyde (MIC(50) 1.12 mg\/mL) and 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol (MIC(50) 1.51 mg\/mL) had the highest antifungal activity. The oils of the studied species showed good antifungal activity, especially those from Ficus hippopotami. The oils were active against Candida glabrata, C. albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans
