\nThe present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for providing connectivity to a mobile device by means of a fixed access point and an application or media server that provides mobile application and media services.
\n2. Background of the Invention
\nIn this information age, different types of mobile devices are available, such as a portable phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone and the like. Each of these mobile devices have their own characteristics and have different abilities, such as web browsing, download of applications and game play, which are highly desired by the users.
\nPresently, in order to provide connectivity to a personal computer, a laptop computer or a fixed access point, a user typically must have one mobile device and one fixed access point that is located in close proximity to a computer. This requires the user to carry both a mobile device and a fixed access point. If the user desires to use multiple mobile devices to connect to a computer, the user must purchase multiple mobile devices and at least one access point in order to be able to connect to any of the mobile devices from the computer.
\nMobile devices having wireless communication ability include a mobile phone, a smart phone and the like. When a user is within the range of a particular access point, the user is able to engage in a communication session with another user of the mobile device. In order to be able to engage in a communication session with another mobile device, the access point and the mobile device may be located in close proximity to one another.
